Warming Up to a New Season

The polo season is starting up again.  Last weekend we played our usual pre-league tournament, the Chinese New Year Cup at RSPC.  We all played far too fast for a first tournament!  Perhaps we were excited by the large crowd at the club.  The RSPC Pony Club had their registration day as part of the tournament, and on Sunday we had a really good Lion Dance troupe perform.  It was a very enjoyable tournament.

This weekend I played at Ranhill-Tanamera Polo Club.  It was the first time I played  on this field.

… and that’s Nat

I’ve got to say I never thought that Natasha would ever be a blogger.  She has surprised me yet again.

Uncommon Courtesy

cover_homme_07Homme magazine features five fabulous pages of the Hookahs Polo Tournament.  It is great coverage for what is quite a special polo tournament.  It is a charity tournament that was started by a few friends at RSPC.  It has matured over the four editions we have run.  Last year alone the Hookahs Tournament helped to raise a cool RM100,000 for a charity that is very close to home.  We are really proud of that.

Musical Notes

If you didn’t already know, I actually come from a very musical family.  My father, Alex Abisheganaden was awarded a cultural gold medal by the Singapore government for his contribution to music and the arts in Singapore.  My sister is a jazz singer who has recorded quite a few great albums for Groove Note Records.  Her music has even been featured in Hollywood movies like Juno and Play it to the Bone.

In Singapore for Chinese New Year, Grandpa got Zack and Zaine and their cousin Alexander to play a song with a set of handbells he had.

Adamas

Adamas

Adamas kept our winning streak going as we beat Thai Polo 8 1/2 - 3 to in the Thailand Equestrian Federation Polo Cup rather easily.  Shaik was the real star of Adamas, our strategist and play-maker.  We managed to keep Manuel Cereceda and Nattapong Pratumlee quiet, and that gave us more options than them.  Shaik was outstanding again, dominating the game.  He is back to his best again, after shattering his collarbone in Pahang last year.
