Coaches Code Of Conduct:
A Coach Should Never Laugh At Her Pupil’s Mistakes
That’s EFA/NCAS Level 3 coach Jocelyn Park on the left, turning away and demurely using her hand to cover her mouth as Wan Ming walks out of the Derby Water Complex after her double back-flip off Cannon.
Burning up the competition
The Korean organisers of the Busan Asian Games are making few friends. Nearly all countries in the equestrian events have experienced accreditation problems. All the countries that sent horse feed so that their horses do not have to change their diet before such an important event have had their horse feed confiscated and burnt. This is supposedly because of the tough Korean laws on the import of any livestock feed to their country.
Surely nothing at all to do with the fact that the Koreans are now selling horse feed to the competitors, at only about double the normal price.
Doggone it
You heard the stories before the FIFA World Cup. Jump-Off can confirm that it is really true. Three South East Asians have found out the hard way that you shouldn’t try the stall-food in Korea, no matter how good it looks.
They were eating poochie.
V.I.W.
In the Land of the Blind, officialdom is taken to absurd levels. An Equestrian Federation of Singapore Vice-President made an urgent, repeated request for a Special VIP Security Card so that he could attend the Grand Derby of the recently concluded National Horse Show. This is despite the fact that there was no such thing as a Special VIP card, neither was there a VIP area at the Derby infield, nor any amenities for VIP’s there.
Nevertheless John T.F. Wong, demanded a Special VIP card that had his name on it, followed by the title “Vice-President, Equestrian Federation of Singapore.”
Foot Slalom
The slalom and the post event party at the National Horse Show were so successful that a foot slalom was staged, with two very happy party-makers racing each other over the slalom course. Showjumping Equitation champion, Hubert Astegher, still wearing his championship sash, ran a race against Lesley Davidson over the 5-fence course.
Hubert showed that even though he is an equitation champion, he can go against the clock. He shot out to a quick early lead. Ever the gentleman, he sat on the last fence waiting for Lesley to catch up before cantering, err, jogging over the finish line.
