We bring you part 2 of our Olympic Jump-Off special. We have some essential quotes from the Hoy-Germany loss of 2 gold medals, more champion Olympic horse names and more...
Things are pretty hot in Athens.

Jump-Off thinks everyone could do with a drink to cool down.
To Appeal or Not To Appeal?
"What happened to fair-play and the Olympic spirit?" - Count Dieter Landsberg-Velen, President of the German Equestrian Federation and long-time Vice-President of the FEI.
"I think it's a shame the other countries would appeal," added Andrew Hoy, Bettina’s husband, who fell in the cross country and ended 57th. "There is no doubt Bettina had the best event."
French Manners
French riders had refused to offer congratulations and repeatedly turned their backs on Bettina Hoy. Now that the French have been awarded the Olympic Eventing gold medal, this is what they have to say:
"I would like to pay homage to Bettina, who paid very dearly for the fact that the jury screwed up," French Equestrian Team Chef Olivier Lepage
A No-so-nice Mental Image from Germany
"I feel shat upon. Regrets is a word that is not strong enough.” Reinhard Wendt, chef de mission for the German equestrian team.
The American World View
John Long, CEO of the US Equestrian Federation commented: “The FEI has issued a press release…which essentially, in my view, disagrees with the decision of CAS. I think the press release is arrogant and I think it is completely inappropriate.
If you read the release, the FEI accepts the verdict but the goes on to say that it disagrees – that it has a different interpretation. I think it is incredibly unfortunate that they would say that. In fact, I would go so far as to say it’s insulting to all of the countries involved.”
That’s no way to talk about a lady
“Anky’s pretty much been round the block” Husref Malek commenting on Astro before the Olympic Games Individual Dressage Final.
What's in an Olympic Horse’s name? – Part 2
Madame de Pompadour (Fabio Crotta, Switzerland)
Fabio Crotta's nine-year-old French bred mare was given her name by his girlfriend Susannah's mother. " She's better than my girlfriend!" he jokes. "No, seriously, as a jumper she is brave, she has a big heart and lots of scope. But Madame de Pompadour is really a Madame'."
Mister Springfield (Robert Smith, GBR)
"My friend, who owns the horse, lives in Derry (Ireland) and the horse is named after a road - Springfield Road - in Londonderry."
Fein Cera (Peter Wylde, USA)
Fein Cera, a 13-year-old Holstein-bred mare by Landadel, comes from a distinguished matriarchal line. Her mother, Cera, was a famous mare who won the German Championships with Otto Becker. She was later ridden by HRH Princess Haya of Jordan, and then by the renowned Irish rider Paul Darragh. Fein Cera's grand-dam was also a champion showjumper.
No Mercy (Christine Liebherr, Switzerland)
"His name fits him perfectly as sometimes he has no mercy for his rider", says Christine of her nine-year-old Dutch-bred gelding. "Sometimes he can be anxious and difficult to control. He is very sensitive, especially about new things he has not seen before. But he does trust people he really knows. He is really playful with me in the stable, and he really is my friend."
