"Don't give your son money. As far as you can afford it, give him horses. No one came to grief - except honourable grief, through riding horses. No hour of life is lost that is spent in the saddle. Young men have often been ruined through owning horses or through backing horses, but never through riding them; unless of course they break their necks, which taken in the gallop is a very good death."
Sir Winston Churchill
Role Reversal
Is that the horse driving?
How you say, ah
For this Christmas edition, here’s a heart-warming story…
Out Christmas shopping, a member of the jump-off team asked a sales assistant where a certain watch was made. Back came the reply from Ms Ah Lian,
- Perlis, sir.
- Perlis?
- Yes sir, Perlis.
- Perlis? The Perlis in northern Malaysia?
- No sir, Perlis, France.
Made in Malaysia
It appears that newly weds Titien and Roy Ibrahim went straight to work during their honeymoon, part of which was spent in Malaysia at the Proton KL Grand Prix. Titien is already expecting! Since the baby was made during the KL Grand Prix, will they name him after the winner? Diagonal Ibrahim has a nice ring to it.
The Last Dance
It appears the dance has been cancelled. The “He’s-There-No-He’s-Not” saga of the Horse Dancer has finally wound to a close. He has left Malaysia and there will be no encores. Not even in Thailand, which he has never been to, despite his passport.
What’s the big deal?
Horse & Hound reports that a dealer who rode his horse into the riders’ bar during the Royal International Horse Show at Hickstead last year has been suspended from the BSJA for five years.
His defense must have been that his horse was thirsty.
To Rot or Not to Rot
In Sacramento, USA, a court panel rules it's not illegal for veterinarians to tell elderly women to "rot in hell".
That’s the woman, not the horse that is to rot.
Hay, You Got the Munchies?
In Arkansas, Police pull over truck, find marijuana inside bales of hay inside horse trailer. The two horses sure had the munchies.
Transitions
Farewell to Belgian instructor Marc Silvestre, who has left Taman Equine.
