Castor 1989 - 2005

Eva Frantzich, 2001 National Dressage Coach of Malaysia, made a most difficult decision in consultation with the vet team on February 9th allowing her best friend and dressage partner of 14 years Castor to die with dignity and minimal pain after fighting an irreversible severe colic for 30 hours. Castor's heart stopped beating at 11 pm at the Bukit Kiara Equestrian Center in Kuala Lumpur.

Eva Frantzich purchased Castor in 1991, as a two-year old gelding, from the Swedish breeder Lennart Andersson in Varberg. She schooled Castor and rode with success in the young horse championships in Sweden and subsequently in medium and advanced classes. When Eva and Tore Frantzich moved to Malaysia, Castor made the same flight and continued his success in Malaysia.

In 2001, Castor was leased to Abdul Salim Fazlay, who joined the team to win a gold team medal for Malaysia in the Kuala Lumpur XXI Sea Games.  They would have finished in the bronze medal position in the individual final if Malaysia had been allowed three riders.  Instead Salim and Castor had to compete hors concour.

Castor ended his career on the top as the PSI FEI Dressage Challenge Champion for all of South Asia, Prix St. George level, in November 2004. Additionally, he was the champion thru-out 2004 at the Premier Cup Series, the Malaysian and Merdaka Open.
