Jump-Off XXXXV

"He has galloped through young girl's dreams, added richness to grown women's lives, and served men in war and strife." ~ Toni Robinson
New Paip
Only in Malaysia could we have a company bottling tap water and unabashedly marketing it. As you can see they are upfront about stating it is truly “Air Paip”. Jump-off is at least thankful it isn’t Newater flowing from our pipes.
Hey Big Spender
The Equestrian Association of Malaysia held a re-election campaign dinner (EAM’s AGM is on 7th June), err, we mean a Big Thank You dinner for their registered clubs. The munificent dinner held at the magnificent ballroom of Berjaya Times Square was complete with Royal presence and dinner entertainment.
Ironic, perhaps, that the first dance item was tap-danced to the tune of Big Spender?
Polo Members
BP Labs has become one of the latest members of the Equestrian Association of Malaysia, just in time to vote at the AGM. It matters not that it is actually a family-owned polo farm. Or that said polo farm is not even a member of the Royal Malaysian Polo Association.
Other new members of the EAM include Rosman’s “KL Equestrian”. Yup.
He Swings, He Hits…
Polo player extraordinaire Chevy Beh of BP Labs and University of Virginia polo teams is facing a lengthy ban for intentionally striking Amran Selamat with his mallet during the BRDB Cup Final, cracking one of Amran’s ribs.
As BP Labs just became EAM members, doesn’t this mean the EAM will have to take action too? Perhaps they could ban him from taking part in dressage. His polo helmet just doesn’t go with the dressage scene.
And justice for all
Isn’t it amazing that all the high profile FEI doping cases like Sheikh Hazza at the World Endurance Championship, Jessica Kuerten at Spruce Meadows and World Cup champion Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum all get off, while all the Olympic cases stand to lose their medals.
Jump-Off just doesn’t believe the FEI has double standards.
Yu never know
“We are a developing country ... that equine diseases exist in this country is a fact.'' ~ Yu Zaiqing, executive member of the IOC and Chinese Olympic Committee vice-chairman.
Jump-Off is convinced Yu didn’t know China was a developing country when they bid for the Olympics.
Not so blind after all
The much feared Commercial Affairs Investigation Department of TLOTB is said to have paid a visit to the polo club mentioned in our Flee You Later entry of Jump-Off XXXXIV.
Derby Fever
"It was crazy," she said. "People were all out in the street, taking their clothes off … some of them were half-naked like it's Mardi Gras."
A New Zealand racehorse named Rain, Hail or Shine was killed when it was struck by lightning.
Only in America, part 1089
In America a man has been charged with drunken driving for riding a horse while allegedly intoxicated. Millard Greg Dwyer, 42, was arrested after he rode his horse onto a downtown street in front of an off-duty state trooper, Somerset Police Lt. Allan Coomer said.
That’s six foot five at the withers or 1.96 meters for the metriculated.
Transitions:
Getting Married: Congratulations to Malaysia’s premier showjumper Quzier Ambak, who is set tie the knot on 9th July with long-time partner Noraini Abdullah @ Kathy Tjassens-Keiser
