Selangor SPCA Equine Welfare Centre opened

The Selangor SPCA Equine Welfare Centre is now up and running at Awana Spelling Station (formerly known as Awana Horse Ranch) in the Genting Highlands.
The aims of the Centre are to:
Equestrian is a fast growing leisure activity in Malaysia. Unfortunately, the occasional abuse/neglect of horses is currently not being addressed in an effective manner. There is no comprehensive system of reporting, rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming. In severe cases, the current laws do not provide adequate means to prosecute irresponsible owners.
The Centre hopes to readdress this situation and provide a half way home to give abused/neglected horses a second chance to find a suitable & loving home.

b) prevent & protect equine neglect or abuse; and
c) provide or procure humane euthanasia services for aged, ill, unsound or dangerous equine.
