The Equestrian Awards

The 2006 Equestrian Awards were presented by Seri Paduka Baginda Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Wathiqu Billah Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin Ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Mahmud Al-Muktafi Billah Shah,in a glittering ceremony at the Nikko Hotel last night.
The medieval theme was supported by a veritable feast, and a cast of performers that included jugglers, clowns and other circus performers. Balinese jazz fusion band Saharadja gave a fantastic performance with a wide variety of instruments including trumpet, electric violin, didgeridoo, tabla, sarode, banjo, percussions, drums, fretless bass and acoustic guitars.
The highlight of the evening though were the Equestrian Awards. They went to:
Special award for Service to equestrian sports - Sjn Thilllainathan
The founders of the South East Asian World Cup League were also specially honoured. Dato’ Mahammad Fathil, Peter Abisheganaden and Ted Dwyer, who had made the trip especially for this, were there in person to receive their plaques, while Ho Nai Yue sent his apologies.
Malaysia’s Equine Nite gala dinner was organised by Equestrian Promotions.
