The design of riding helmets has changed considerably in the last ten years.  Since GPA revolutionised helmet design in the mid-nineties, newer and even more modern looking helmets have appeared on the European market. 

The Italian helmets that are now all the rage in Europe have finally made it to Malaysia.  Italian-made LAS Helmets are the very latest in avant garde helmet design.

LAS has the very latest in Jumping Helmets with the LAS XT VIP is a lambskin covered helmet that comes in black, brown or gray.  The XT VIP epitomizes the type of design that this Italian company has brought to equestrian sport.  Triple air vents are built into the design of the helmet, giving it a radical look.  The special Lambskin (pictured left in gray) gives the helmet a top quality finish and a special appeal.

The XT VIP Python (pictured top right in brown) is a one-of-a-kind helmet with a very special appeal.  This XT VIP helmet is finished in python skin, the only helmet in the world of its kind.  Only three were made available to South East Asia, all of which are at Zack’s Tack shop at RSPC.  The helmet is immediately distinctive because of the unique leather.

Not all LAS helmets are made with special leathers. The Evolution Microfibre and Fuego use new materials without going to the top end of leathers or prices.

The LAS Fuego (pictured left) combines a modern look with a safety harness and smaller air vents.  This helmet can used for jumping, eventing or general riding. 

The LAS Endurance (pictured right) is the very latest, designed with minimum weight and maximum airflow to keep riders cool and comfortable through a long endurance ride.  These helmets are already very popular in Malaysia amongst the endurance riding community.

The Evolution Microfiber (pictured right) is another retro looking helmet.  It takes us back to the traditional velvet looking English hunting helmet of years gone by. LAS adds a special stitched design to the panels.  The old style design does not allow for air vents, so a microfiber material wicks away perspiration to keep the rider cool.  The Evolution Microfiber incorporates the modern safety harness and like all LAS helmets is EU safety standard certified.

LAS has an entry level helmet called the Tierra (pictured left in a matt silver finish).  This radical looking helmet is very light and comfortoable.  Most of all, beginners will find it very affordable at just RM185.00.

One of Germany’s top brands of Helmets, Penta, has arrived in Malaysia.  The Penta Explorer helmet is a distinctive modern style helmet.  These German helmets have air vents on top and a “smiley” air vent at the back.  The Explorer has a modern safety harness and full EU safety certification.   Yet it sells for at a very reasonable price of RM480.00, a fraction of the price of other modern helmets of similar styling.

Being at the heart of polo in Malaysia, in addition to the traditional cloth and leather covered polo helmets, Zack’s Tack stocks three types of modern polo helmet designs.
