FEI REGIONAL DRESSAGE FORUM &

FEI RECOGNISED COURSE FOR DRESSAGE JUDGES

Asiapromote Ventures Sdn Bhd is proud to present the first FEI Regional Dressage Forum in Malaysia in collaboration with the Federation Equestre Internationale (FEI) and Equestrian Association of Malaysia (EAM).

The FEI Regional Dressage Forum, besides imparting knowledge, will serve as a platform for the discussion of regional effective training programmes for youths and to encourage equestrians to be trained as dressage judges to meet the needs of the sport in the region.

It also provides a networking opportunity for all equestrian enthusiasts in the region to foster and strengthen ties with the aim of building a strong united equestrian force with a bigger representation on the international stage for the further development of the sport.

The Forum is NOT ONLY for judges and riders; it is opened to ALL equestrian enthusiasts including sports officials, team managers, coaches and Pony Club/RISP teachers as they will also benefit from the topics presented.

The Judges Course, whose Course Director is Mariette Withages, is opened to all national, candidate and international judges.  For those who want to know what judges look for in a dressage test, they are all welcome to attend as observers.  FEI certificates are awarded only to the national, candidate and international judges upon completion of the course.

Forum presenters include:

Mariette Withages (BEL) – Chairman, FEI Dressage Committee and FEI ‘O’ Level Dressage Judge

A judge with extensive experience, Mariette has judged at major international competitions including Olympic Games, World Cup Dressage Final, World Equestrian Games, Asia-Pacific Games and Asian Games. She is one of the three co-founders of World Cup Dressage.

Mariette, who has also been conducting clinics for dressage judges all over the world, is the chairman of the International Dressage Judges Club. She has been a driving force to globalise dressage, encouraging forums and clinics to be held in developing countries.

David Holmes (GBR) – FEI Executive Director, Sports

David joined the FEI as its Executive Director of Sports on September 1, 2008. With his extensive leadership and organisational expertise, he is tasked to lead the Sports Departments and manage their planning, financial and operational activities to achieve the goals as set out in the FEI’s President manifesto.

The former Chief Executive Officer of British Dressage, a post he held for the last nine years, has in-depth knowledge of equestrian sports at the highest levels. He has also served in the British Ministry of Defence holding senior positions.

Jean Bemelmans (GER) – Trainer of the silver-medal winning Spanish Dressage Team at the Athens Olympics

Honoured with the title ‘Reitmaster’, Jean has been training the Spanish Dressage Team for more than 10 years. His work with the Spanish team has brought successes at the 2002 World Championships, 2003 European Championships and 2004 Olympic Games – a team bronze and an individual silver at the Jerez World Championships, and a team silver and an individual bronze at the Athens Olympics.

One of Germany’s top trainers, Jean has also trained many international grand prix riders. He has schooled a big number of horses like Amazonas, Angelino, Goldfever and Americo up to Grand Prix Level.

Originally from Belgium, this very well-known trainer was a successful grand prix rider himself with 50 international grand prix wins to his name.
