"We are delighted to have won here," Hans Peter Minderhoud said happily. He had achieved the best result among his team members, scoring 72.46 percent with the KWPN mare Exquis Nadine. "I have mixed feelings. Of course I am pleased about the team victory, but I would have liked to have won the individual classification," commented Anky van Grunsven, who scored 71.36 percent on Salinero. The remaining team members were Marlies van Baalen on BMC O'Jay DVB (68.42) and Sander Marijnissen on Moedwill, who delivered the strike result with a score of 65.70 percent. The Dutch team last won the Nations Cup in 2005.
The German team was close on the heels of their Dutch rivals, achieving a total score of 210.21 percent. "Our whole team underperformed today. All of the pairs can achieve much better results, we now have to analyse the situation carefully," explained a disappointed Holger Schmezer, the German national coach. The youngest rider Matthias Alexander Rath achieved the best result (71.362 percent) with Sterntaler-Unicef ahead of Heike Kemmer, who scored 70.723 on Bonaparte. Ellen Schulten-Baumer and Donatha provided the strike result (67.787 percent). "I should have helped Herzi more here, because he was very unsettled by the amazing atmosphere," said Ulla Salzgeber, who scored 68.128 percent with the Rhineland-bred gelding Herzruf's Erbe.
Great Britain came third in the team classification with a total score of 205.575 percent. The strongest team member was Germany-based Emma Hindle, who scored 70.426 percent with Lancet. The team was completed by Carl Hester with the Holsteiner Liebling II (69.277), Laura Bechtolsheimer on Andretti H, who provided the strike result scoring 64.085 percent and Fiona Bigwood on Wie Atlantico (65.872).
